Horticulture

‘I can hear the birds, the sounds of the chickens and the dogs barking, it’s great’

  • At the allotment

Our students manage a long established allotment site in North Norwich. They grow a variety of vegetables, fruit and ornamental plants. The site is a short walk from our centre and is equipped with polytunnels, a greenhouse, a fruit cage, a compost toilet and a geodesic dome shelter.

  • In the kitchen

All of our produce is picked fresh and delivered straight to our kitchen. We use as much as we can for our lunches but also preserve some items for use later in the year or for sale.

  • In the community

We hold regular stalls in our car park during the growing season where visitors and passers by can get their hands on our fresh produce, preserves and plants. We volunteer our gardening services to other local organisations and try to do our bit to green our local community. We also take regular trips to other gardens and food growing sites for inspiration.
