The Four Seasons

This year we did some work about The Four Seasons for our Spring Display.

We all thought of some pictures that could represent the Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.  I chose lambs, sunbathing, pumpkins and warm clothes for my pictures.  We chose colour schemes for the different seasons like oranges and browns for Autumn.  Sue drew shadows of our faces so we could choose a face to blow the Autumn wind., and some of us had a go at guessing our faces.  We have apple trees on our allotment so we made 4 apple trees for the seasons with blossom, apples, autumn leaves and bare branches. We made vegetables growing at different stages for each season.             Nicky

3D Plaster Work 2008

Our art and craft projects this year have been about 3D. We looked at Sculptures around the city. We looked at the Elephants when they were visiting and all chose a favourite one. We had a go at making moulds of our hands using play dough. Then we used plaster to make a model of our hands and we all made faces too. We had to make a mould first using all sorts of things to make the features. Then we filled it with plaster. We painted our hands and faces.  We have also made 3D picture frames out of plaster.  One student made his into a thermometer for a Mediterranean Garden.                                   Chris

Making Felt Bags and Cushions

“Last year we all did some felt making with Sue. This year we decided to make bags with our felt squares on the front of our bags. We did different backgrounds  to our bags. Some of us made cushions instead. We picked different designs for our bags. We picked different colours of the materials for our bags.  We all used the sewing machine. It was the best project we have done. Some of us enjoyed making our bags. We have done our bags now. They are really good bags.”  Heidi

“I made a cushion with my felt picture with seals. I chose a blue fabric. Sue helped me sew my cushion on the sewing machine. The cushions were put on display in the foyer. I stuffed my cushion with white cotton wadding.  When I take it home I will put it on my bed. I am very pleased with my cushion that I made.”  Nicky

Easter Bunnies

After making our cushions we had lots of fabric left over and we were all really enjoying using the sewing machine. So we decided to make an Easter Rabbit. We drew out the shape on paper and cut the fabric. We pinned it then sewed it on the machine. We joked it was like  driving. We stuffed them with wadding. They are all very colourful.         Sang
